I just wanted to share the lyrics to this one song that somebody shared with me. The whole CD that it comes off of is amazing, but this is one of my favorites. Very good lyrics to Tim Hughes' songs and I think you might even enjoy the music, Mom! Try to find some way to listen to him if you've never heard him before.\

Holding Nothing Back...that's me as you know! So here goes about the song and the lyrics. I haven't heard the music, haven't heard of him. The words bother me from the standpoint of 'clinging to the cross'. I get what he is saying, but as Believers we should be very careful because other non-believers are listening.

We serve a risen Savior, His work on the cross is complete. Catholicism keeps Christ on the cross. We do look to Jesus Christ and His work on the cross for our salvation, but we always know that without God the Father, none of that would have been possible and without Jesus Christ now seated at the right hand of the Father our life on earth would not be what it is. We should 'cling' to God's word, His promises. We should access Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and let Him be our intercessor. So, I'm bothered by the words to the song that keep repeating that phrase.

Watch out out in the contemporary music for the play on emotions and feelings...the Christian life is one of thinking and learning and applying God's Word. We can't do that in a muddle of emotions at all times. Serving a risen Savior is very emotional at times and we should be in awe of what He has accomplished for us on the cross, but as Believers, our minds should be more on how to live our life as pleasing to God.
